Dee's Alaska Adventure
Rained most of last night but quit right at 6 am. Patty fixed me a delicious breakfast of oatmeal and flax seed. Yum yum! Took off on my bicycle and peddled 30 miles. Lots of long hills and very strong head wind all day. I get to grumbling about the wind to myself but then remembered that I was doing this to get in good shape so I could live to see 100 years old. So I thanked the Lord for helping me with my goal. That is the way life is. God brings lots of steep hills into our life to get us in shape for heaven so I better quit grumbling! I am feeling pretty good tonight. Knees aren't hurting and muscles seem to be getting into shape. I am going to run tomorrow and see if I can get in at least 13 miles before I tire out. After Patty and Mom pick me up we are going to take a tour of Barkerville, an old gold mining town with lots of history that has been restored. It is supposed to be quit interesting. No dogs chasing me today or other adventures, just the hills and wind, that I am very thankful for!!! It has been very fun getting to spend so much time with my Mom. It is quit amazing how curious she is about all that we see and experience at 80 years old. My curiosity I have considered one of my strong character traits that has motivated me to be a life long learner especially in the Bible. I never really thought about it before that I got that trait from my mother. I am sure that basically all that I posses in the way of strengths came from my parents. I was thinking today how little I thanked my Dad for his investment into my life before he died and how little I have really communicated appreciation to my Mom or the Lord for what He has done in me through them. I will definitely work hard at improving in that area of my life. We are camped at McLeese Lake tonight right next to the lake with a beautiful view. Sun is shining, temperature is pleasant, no Mosquitos and we are about ready to eat Ravioli and green beans and bread, super!
